8-32 X 5/8 BUTTON SHCS 18-8 PATCH
Description
This part has a similar thread design as a socket cap screw. The dome-shaped head is wider and has a lower profile than a socket cap screw. Made from 18-8 Stainless Steel which is not heat treatable. Can develop high strength by cold working and is corrosion resistant.
Application
Used when a wider bearing surface or a smoother, more finished appearance is desired.
Patch
Nylon patch is a pre-applied inert thread locking process that creates instant retention and sealing properties along with the added benefit of adjustability and reusability. The engineered plastic material is chemical resistant and eliminates the need for costly lock washers, cotter pins, or castellated nuts.
When assembled with a mating part, the nylon patch is compressed. Due to the elastic memory, it resists this compression and acts as a wedge, increasing the metal to metal contact 180° opposite the material. This mechanical force creates a strong, yet fully adjustable lock which will not weaken, even under extreme vibration.
